About

History

In January 1972, 59 women attended the inaugural meeting of the Western Suburbs Women’s Bowling Club. Mrs E Hughes became the foundation president in June 1972.

The Club first won a metropolitan pennant in the 1985-1986 Grade 3 competition. It was a proud day for the Club when the Pennant was unfurled by the then State President, Mrs D. Johnson.

In the 1990’s the club had 100 members, 8 of whom were foundation members. Unfortunately the Club was disbanded in the mid-2000’s.

Fast forward to 2011, and the Western Suburbs Women’s Bowling Club was re-opened.

The foundation members were Jean Wisby (President), Judy Starr (Vice President), Francis Miechels (Secretary), Marina Deluchi (Treasurer), Maria Di Rosario (Social), Gorame Momo (Bowls Organise), Beryl White, Susannah Miechels and Pat Butler.

The Club became an affiliated club of WBNSW and the first official day was Tuesday 2nd August 2011.
